Rochester NY Manhattan Golf Club
Club History
The Manhattan Golf Club of Rochester, New York was founded by a group of African American men in the summer of 1966. Its purpose, then, was to develop and implement an organized effort to increase the group's play on a variety of area golf courses. They also wanted to introduce the game of golf to youth in the area. The Club has developed various traditional means to provide scholarship money to youth for college educations. Located in upstate New York, The Manhattan Golf Club has provided African-Americans a congenial golfing experience for over 40 years that today includes a healthy mix of all races and both genders.
